Those who keep up on the current mobile marketing frenzy are going to be upset when this hits their text messaging updates. Ha!
The mobile marketing that I am contemplating today is a very different flavor. It is the visual marketing of your product in a temporary fashion. Let me explain.
Artists of all flavors have opportunities during the year to exhibit our creative results at art shows, craft fairs, home parties and other venues. Visions of the throngs of excited customers flocking into your designated booth space dance through your head as artwork is created, prices attached, and moving tubs are packed. A veritable flurry of activity isn't it?
It never ceases to amaze me that such creative people, selling their vision and talent to interested buyers, completely overlook the importance of their booth space vibe. The challenges are unique for sure. The space is very temporary, and it isn't like you can paint it or hang fantastic lights from the ceiling. Nope. You must use all of your creativite talent to create your impression in a space about the size of a 10 by 10 foot booth. What can you create in a short amount of time, in a very limited space, and usually for little money? I mean let's face it, we don't have the roadies and the budgets of the folks who do this for a REAL living!
To me, this is mobile marketing in its literal form. Put it up, make it fantastic, and tear it back down again to store for the next event.
I have a show this weekend and having been stripped of my tent, (it is an indoors event) I am putting some heavy thinking into how I can keep my branding and boutique feeling alive. The tables can be decorated as normal, but how can I hang my fabric panels or at least use them in a fun way? This is a basic setup of my tent, it hasn't been dressed out yet but you get the idea of what I mean when I mention my fabric.
I have some ideas, and am heading out to the hardware store now to put together a few ideas. I will snap some pictures of the results on Saturday to share with you.
I would love to gather some input from you on your art show booth experiences, good and bad. Pictures earn you bonus points!
